About Beer School….
Beer School is in session the first Tuesday monthly in City Star Brewing’s Zoller Barrel House; it’s a social group to connect Berthoud area beer enthusiasts with an emphasis on beer ingredients, beer styles and knowledge, home brewing, and any topic that takes you beyond the pint in front of you. Join the Berthoud Beer School Facebook group to connect virtually!
Beer School includes public presentations with unique topics and guest speakers to appeal to beer lovers, home brewers, pro brewers, and even just curious community members. There will be a private homebrew share tasting for those interested at 7:30pm, to follow the presentation.

She’s back and better than ever!

The newest creation from the City Star Zoller Barrel House – the 2019 vintage of Scarlet is a blend of sour stout aged in oak barrels for 2 years, sour imperial stout aged in oak barrels for 2.5 years, and Michigan Montmorency cherries. Soured with lactobacillus and pediococcus bacteria as well as brettanomyces yeast. The beer has a velvety smooth mouthfeel. Luscious waves of cocoa roll along the tongue, and the cherry sweetness rounds out the sour flavor profile. Each bottle is dipped in wax and hand stamped with the City Star Brewing seal.

A Perfect Valentine at City Star Brewing: Sour Barrel Aged Stout finished with Cherries

The latest in the City Star Zoller Barrel Aged Series will be released in the taproom on Wednesday, February 14th: Scarlet is a sour stout aged 9 months in oak barrels finished with cherries. She rings in at 7% ABV.

We absolutely love this darling! Soured with both lactobacillus and pediococcus bacteria as well as brettanomyces yeast (big words for excellent souring agents!). A blend of  Bing, Lambert, Van, and Royal Anne sweet cherries were added to this beer… approximately 50lbs of cherry per barrel. The beer has a velvety smooth mouthfeel. Luscious waves of cocoa roll along the tongue, and the cherry sweetness rounds out the sour flavor profile. Bottles will be for sale in the City Star taproom, and on tap for sampling. Each bottle is dipped in wax and hand stamped with the City Star Brewing seal.

City Star Brewing Releases Belle in Bottles: Sour Pale Ale Aged on Passion Fruit

Bottle Release Date: April 29th, 2017 – Berthoud, Colorado

The next release in City Star Brewing’s Barrel Aged Beer Series is Belle, a sour oatmeal pale ale aged 2 years in whiskey oak barrels and aged 3 months with golden passion fruit. Careful, you might just lose your horses while drinking this brew (historic reference, anyone?). 6.6% ABV

The beer will be released in the City Star Brewing taproom on Saturday, April 29th at 12:00pm. There are approximately 500 bottles available for purchase, $16.00 per 22oz bottle, limit 1 case per person.

City Star Brewing Releases Pancho in Bottles: Sour Tequila Barrel Aged Honey Wheat

Pancho - website-11Revolutionize your taste buds! The latest in City Star’s Barrel Aged Series will be released in the City Star taproom on July 30th. Pancho is a sour honey wheat aged in tequila oak barrels for 1 year; an approachable tart summer sour at 6.4% ABV.

500 22oz bottles will be available for sale at $15/bottle (1 case limit), AND Pancho will be on draft for sampling.

Each bottle is dipped in wax and hand stamped with the City Star Brewing seal. With only 500 bottles of Pancho available we expect this stockpile to be raided quickly.

City Star Brewing to Release “Damsel” a sour Belgian rye pale ale aged in oak rum barrels with Palisade Peaches

Sweep Damsel off her feet! The fourth and latest release in City Star Brewing’s barrel aged beer series is limited to only 441 bottles. Damsel is a sour Belgian rye pale ale aged 15 months in rum oak barrels with Palisade peaches.

Damsel features New Haven Peaches from the Palisade region of Colorado provided by our local Hays Market.  Damsel aged with peaches for 4 months. The resulting brew is complex and intriguing with a bit of mystery on where the flavors will take you next.  This well balanced sour offers some pucker without overwhelming your taste buds. As it warms a delicate peach aroma and subtle sweetness will dances across your palate and leave you eager for the next sip.

Damsel will only be for sale in City Star Brewing’s taproom and will retail for $18 per 22oz bottle. Each bottle is dipped in peach colored wax and hand stamped with the City Star Brewing seal. With only 441 bottles available make sure you sweep your Damsel off her feet while still available!
