The Seers

640 675 City Star Brewing

The Seers, an experimental folk-rock duo from Fort Collins, CO, have transformed their shared passion for great songs into a walking, talking, modern-day jukebox of musical versatility. With a “stunning repertoire” of over 700 covers and 100 originals spanning from alternative rock to Americana country, the Seers deliver sing-along performances that bring people closer together.

As a duo, three-piece, four-piece, and five-piece band, Seers perform at regional festivals (SXSW 2015 Colorado Music Showcase), weddings (in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming and Colorado), private events, restaurants, bars, breweries, memorials, markets, and more. With over fifteen years of collaboration, it easy to see why they’re in high regional demand: they love to play.

As prolific songwriters and aspiring recording artists, Collins and Waters have been recording and releasing albums as The Seers since 2010. Their first was an underground, stream-of-consciousness EP titled “Universal Tree.” Two eclectic rock albums followed: “The Seers” (2013) and “Cellophane Eyes” (2014). In 2016, in collaboration with Danny Kalb (Beck, Ben Harper, and Foster the People), The Seers released the indie folk EP “Signals” to critical acclaim. Their fourth release, the full-length “Better Days” is out May 13th, 2017

Billy Shaddox Duo

578 289 City Star Brewing

“Shaddox hails from Colorado, and is the rare songwriter who seems to have a natural knack for crafting a pop song, and a deep understanding of what makes one great. And “I Melt, I Howl” is truly great. With the softness of Tweedy and the sweetness of Mikal Cronin, Shaddox has truly found his sound with Howl. His breakout record is folksy Americana-rock, with the smoothest of melodies and vocal harmonies, and will hopefully earn Shaddox some much-deserved attention.” – Glide Magazine Album Review, 2015

Greg Schochet and Katie Glassman

640 675 City Star Brewing

fiddle tunes • old Western swing • country

Katie Glassman’s love affair with the fiddle began at the tender age of nine. Inspired by old-time Texas music, she began playing by ear, and was soon winning numerous honors throughout the West. In 1998, she captured the National Junior Fiddle Championship in Weiser, Idaho, and two years later the National Young Adult Fiddle Championship. She is a three- time top five finalist in the National Grand Champion Division and in 2011, she won the National Western Stock Show Championship. 2013 was Katie’s biggest year yet for competing, as she took top honors in two of the country’s most prestigious contests: Walnut Valley, in Winfield, Kansas, and Rockygrass in Lyons, CO.

But Katie is no one trick pony when it comes to fiddling. She studied classical and jazz violin at the University of Colorado in Boulder, graduating with a BA in music performance and a certificate in jazz studies. In 2007 she became only the second American to attend the Centre Musique Didier Lockwood in France, the world’s foremost jazz violin school.

Greg Schochet is a full-time performer, teacher and producer in Boulder, Colorado. Equally adept on guitar and mandolin, he is fluent in number of acoustic and electric styles, including bluegrass, swing, and country.

A veteran of many touring and recording bands, his love of music and traveling has brought him to some of the most acclaimed venues in the country, including A Prairie Home Companion, Red Rocks, and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, as well as the Rainforest World Music Festival in Malaysia.

Born and raised in the suburbs of New York city, Greg’s musical youth was framed by his father’s record collection and FM radio of the 70s and 80s. Combined with a deep love for all things traditional, twangy and old-timey, Greg’s musical sensibilities are wide-ranging and versatile.

He is an integral part of Colorado’s thriving roots music scene, and is a sought after instructor, session player, producer and collaborator.

GOATZ

150 150 City Star Brewing

Chris K and his friends are “old goats,” hence the name GOATZ! They’ve been around a while, kicking dirt, eating cans, that sorta thing.

Originally formed in 2003 with his wife Pattie, Chris took a break from performing for several years before reforming the band in 2015. Miss Pattie, aka Mrs Goat, passed away in February 2016 from metastatic melanoma. Goat and his friends decided to keep the music going.

Chris has been at this since the ’70s, performing across the US, and in Canada and Great Britain, playing in direct support of Guy Clark, Jim Lauderdale, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Reckless Kelly, the Railbenders and others. He was a founding member of the 90s era Southern-rock jam band Alien Cowboy in Fort Collins.

Chris is also the founder and president of Rocky Mountain Music Network LLC; the producer and host of the syndicated radio program, “Chris K’s Colorado Playlist,” heard on a number of stations statewide; and an on air host at 105.5 The Colorado Sound in Northern Colorado.

Goatz! has performed at Bohemian Nights @ New West Fest, Carbon Valley Music & Spirits Festival, FOCOMX, Fort Collins Peach Festival, Yarmonygrass, the Mishawaka Amphitheatre, Avogadro’s Number, Oskar Blues, the Walnut Room, Ziggies, Mile High Flea Market and other regional venues, events and festivals.

The band performs from a catalog of songs written and/or recorded by Merle Haggard, John Fogerty, Tom Russell, Chris Stapleton, John Mellencamp, Dave Alvin, Rodney Crowell, and others, as well as original songs written by Chris and his late wife Pattie.

Shanna In A Dress

640 675 City Star Brewing

Shanna in a Dress is a smashing combination of clever lyrics, sweet serenade, and tongue twisting rhymes. She has been performing since her days at the University of Virginia where she attracted a loyal following of fans that loved her feel-good humor, catchy melodies, and entertaining stage presence. Shanna is a diverse songwriter with a playful setlist containing material ranging from sunny toe-tapping tunes to intensely emotional ballads to humorous ear candy. Her lyrics are laden with clever wordplay and are relatable across all ages.

Shanna released her first EP More Than Just a Hoar in 2012 after a successful Kickstarter campaign. Her style is often compared to Ingrid Michaelson, Colbie Caillat and Jason Mraz. She doesn’t take herself too seriously off-stage or on, and her self-reported style is “happy folk pop with a twist of humor, sarcasm, and occasional tears.” Shanna moved to Boulder in 2014 and is excited to connect and share with the local music scene!
