DESCRIPTION:Sean Clark of the Rock y Mountain Beard and Moustache Club is hosting their annual Colorado Facial Hair Chili Cook Off at City Star Brewing on February 4th\, with public tasting from 5-7pm. \nTasting is open to the public for a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (suggested donation is $5). \nThere are four categories to be judged: Red\, Green\, Hottest and Best in Show. \nChili entries are open to all facial hair club members. Competitors may enter one of three categories: Red\, Green\, or Hottest. Hottest entries are required to eat 8oz of their chili in front of a judge before the event starts.

DESCRIPTION:Indie folk musician Anna p.s. conveys a sense of weariness throughout her simple yet resonant songs\, but it’s a weariness that keeps a blanket of hope tucked up under its chin\, even as the rain keeps falling outside the windows. Grace always lurks around the corner on tunes that layer delicate vulnerability over the hearty stock of this songwriters’ spirit. With technical acumen acquired during an early career as an audio engineer\, and a humble but confident stage presence groomed as a founding member of indie roots rock band Shiny Shiny Black\, Anna stepped out as a solo musician in 2014. She’s been on the road intermittently ever since. Her debut LP Umbrella\, released in July 2016\, showcases her signature sonic blend of melancholy\, hope\, and resilience. \nIn concert\, Anna plays acoustic guitar\, foot percussion\, and—perhaps unexpectedly—the flute. She uses a looper pedal to sample her guitar and loop it back while she plays flute interludes during her songs\, bringing a unique element to her concerts. She started playing the flute in fifth grade in her hometown of Greencastle\, Pennsylvania\, and while it wasn’t her favorite instrument at the time\, she stuck with it over the years through concert band\, private lessons\, and district through state competitions. Those years of instruction and discipline provided Anna with the classical training that would form the foundation of what she’s doing now. \nAnna currently resides in northern Indiana when not on the road.  Crafting merch and home goods\, taking her cat Earl Grey out on hikes\, and growing food.   She continues to perform online livestreamed shows when in person shows are not an option. \nhttps://annapsmusic.com/home

DESCRIPTION:Loose\, funky grooves and smooth vocals. Incendiary guitar playing and lyrics that you can’t forget. Raised in Memphis\, TN\, Joe now does his thing based out out of Ft. Collins\, Colorado. He earned his recording and performing credentials with Memphis’ Blues Rock Queen Reba Russell. After playing with Reba for five years\, Joe took on the challenge of starting his own group\, Minivan\, which became a staple of the Memphis roots rock scene. He also took gigs with Memphis blues artists Earl the Pearl\, Billy Gibson\, and Big Joe Turner (bassist for Albert and B.B. King). Joe has shared stages with Charlie Hunter\, Tower of Power\, and James Cotton. It’s mostly blues\, R&B\, rock & roll\, soul\, and funk – the brilliant creations of African-American artists which most modern popular music is based on today. DESCRIPTION:Hardwood Heart is a string band serving up exploratory bluegrass/rock/jazz/americana to anybody with an open mind. \nHardwood Heart was born out of compulsion – a desire for guitarist Josh Clinger and mandolin player Jed Nussbaum to keep as musically active and exploratory as possible. What started as two songwriters swapping tunes in backyards and living rooms turned into an impressive catalog of original material and covers\, woven together with creative improvisation and vocal harmonies. Together they paired up with bassist Caleb Mattis and forged a sound rooted in bluegrass but stretching into jazz\, folk\, blues and rock and roll. DESCRIPTION:Jason Hicks is an accomplished singer\, songwriter\, guitarist and founding member of the Blue Canyon Boys\, a traditional inspired bluegrass ensemble of the Colorado Rocky Mountains.  Jason grew up in the small town of Labadie\, Missouri which is the foundation from where he draws his songwriting inspirations.  He started playing guitar at the age of 16 when he sold the pickup truck given to him as a birthday present to buy a guitar and an amp where upon he immediately began writing songs.  He began his performing career at the age of 18 and earned his BFA in music at Webster University before moving out to the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado in 1998 and immersed himself in the burgeoning Colorado bluegrass scene.  He co-founded the Blue Canyon Boys in 2003 and with them\, Jason has traveled across the country and around the world and have just released their seventh full length album aptly titled “7.”
