DESCRIPTION:We will hosting Berthoud Historical Society President Mark French for a presentation on Berthoud for Beginners. French’s free to-the-public presentation will be held in the Zoller Barrel Room and will feature his historical perspective of the community’s early development including notable landmarks and geographic features. A life-long resident of the community\, French aims to give newcomers to the community a unique historical context for Berthoud and the surrounding Little Thompson Valley. \nThe event will also provide an opportunity for participants to sign up for morning (9:00 a.m.) or afternoon (1:00 p.m.) Berthoud for Beginners field trips that Mr. French will be lead on Saturday\, May 25\, 2019. The three hour fieldtrip ($20 per person) will travel on a 16-passenger bus through Berthoud and the Little Thompson Valley while Mr. French describes the historical significance of various structures and sites. The $20 fee also includes a one-year complimentary membership to the Berthoud Historical Society. Within a year\, they had teamed up with Aaron McCloskey (Banjo) and Taylor Shuck (Bass) and the music immediately fell into place. DESCRIPTION:fiddle tunes • old Western swing • country \nKatie Glassman’s love affair with the fiddle began at the tender age of nine. Inspired by old-time Texas music\, she began playing by ear\, and was soon winning numerous honors throughout the West. In 1998\, she captured the National Junior Fiddle Championship in Weiser\, Idaho\, and two years later the National Young Adult Fiddle Championship. She is a three- time top five finalist in the National Grand Champion Division and in 2011\, she won the National Western Stock Show Championship. 2013 was Katie’s biggest year yet for competing\, as she took top honors in two of the country’s most prestigious contests: Walnut Valley\, in Winfield\, Kansas\, and Rockygrass in Lyons\, CO. \nBut Katie is no one trick pony when it comes to fiddling. She studied classical and jazz violin at the University of Colorado in Boulder\, graduating with a BA in music performance and a certificate in jazz studies. In 2007 she became only the second American to attend the Centre Musique Didier Lockwood in France\, the world’s foremost jazz violin school. \nGreg Schochet is a full-time performer\, teacher and producer in Boulder\, Colorado. Equally adept on guitar and mandolin\, he is fluent in number of acoustic and electric styles\, including bluegrass\, swing\, and country. \nA veteran of many touring and recording bands\, his love of music and traveling has brought him to some of the most acclaimed venues in the country\, including A Prairie Home Companion\, Red Rocks\, and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival\, as well as the Rainforest World Music Festival in Malaysia. \nBorn and raised in the suburbs of New York city\, Greg’s musical youth was framed by his father’s record collection and FM radio of the 70s and 80s. DESCRIPTION:The 2019 vintage of Scarlet is a blend of sour stout aged in oak barrels for 2 years\, sour imperial stout aged in oak barrels for 2.5 years\, and Michigan Montmorency cherries. Soured with lactobacillus and pediococcus bacteria as well as brettanomyces yeast. The beer has a velvety smooth mouthfeel. Luscious waves of cocoa roll along the tongue\, and the cherry sweetness rounds out the sour flavor profile.

DESCRIPTION:Chris K and his friends are “old goats\,” hence the name GOATZ! They’ve been around a while\, kicking dirt\, eating cans\, that sorta thing. \nOriginally formed in 2003 with his wife Pattie\, Chris took a break from performing for several years before reforming the band in 2015. Miss Pattie\, aka Mrs Goat\, passed away in February 2016 from metastatic melanoma. Goat and his friends decided to keep the music going. \nChris has been at this since the ’70s\, performing across the US\, and in Canada and Great Britain\, playing in direct support of Guy Clark\, Jim Lauderdale\, Cross Canadian Ragweed\, Reckless Kelly\, the Railbenders and others.
