SUMMARY:Escaping Pavement
DESCRIPTION:There’s something about the bend of the mandolin\, the rustle of the guitar\, the gale-like wave of the vocal melody…\, that calls you to adventure. \nSongwriting duo Emily Burns and Aaron Markovitz have always been adapting. The two Michiganders met as individual music makers in the blues open-mic circles; then they studied their craft together in California\, and wound up taking to the seas to cover Top 40 hits for a cruise ship’s dance hall. After that\, they started a southern rock-inclined\, neo-country quartet\, called Escaping Pavement. But most of their fans started finding them after 2014\, when they kept their intrepid-sounding name but pared down to just a duo. With just their voices\, an acoustic guitar and a mandolin\, they wrote and recorded an album (The Night Owl) that was heavy on melody-slung Americana and rollicking\, twangy ballads that attained a radiance through their magnificent harmonies. Now\, they’re adapting again\, this time as Road Warriors. \nRoad Warriors: … we don’t mean that in a Mad Max sort of way…\,\, but it’s nevertheless a fitting title for their new EP. It’s been a year of discovery and progress for Escaping Pavement as they’ve entered this next phase. \nhttp://escapingpavement.com/

SUMMARY:Ashleigh Caudill
DESCRIPTION:Celebrated folksinger\, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist\, Ashleigh Caudill\, exemplifies one of the most exciting musical trends to be heard today. That is\, traditional roots music with a new spin\, a different take on the themes and sounds that have shaped American music past. She has a sense of style that is unique and beyond categorization. Her songs are constructed with an architect’s touch and her performances hum with an excitement in the crisp arrangements that lift each song. \nGrowing up in a small town in Western Colorado Ashleigh began playing music at an early age. Upon receiving a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College Of Music she relocated to Boston\, Massachusetts. While climbing the ranks of freelance bassists in Boston’s booming acoustic music scene\, she fell in love with both songwriting and clawhammer banjo. After leaving the city in 2007 Caudill bounced around a bit gathering experiences and stories that would work their way into her music. \nShe now resides in Nashville\, Tennessee where she is an in demand hired hand playing with artists ranging from bluegrass icon\, Charlie Sizemore\, to Angaleena Presley of The Pistol Annies. In addition to her renown as a bassist she is gaining recognition for her songwriting prowess. Caudill placed in the finals of Merlfest’s Chris Austin Songwriting Contest two years in a row and some top bands have already found her material. One of those tunes\, Row By Row\, was recorded on Balsam Range’s IBMA album of the year\, Papertown\, and topped the Bluegrass Gospel Charts summer 2013 in addition to being nominated for IBMA’s Gospel Recorded Event Of The Year. \nAlong with her writing and side work her own project continues to thrive. With a show alongside fellow bassist\, Missy Raines\, for the Bluegrass Underground in the Cumberland Caverns\, a solo set on Music City Roots’ Monteagle Show\, and a packed album release party at the American Legion she certainly enjoys playing a wide variety of venues! \nWith sweet yet powerful vocals she draws the listener in to the tales she spins. Accompanied by the impeccable timing of her upright bass and a fine cast of musicians\, or the rolling mellow tones of her open back banjo her sound will please the ears of music lovers everywhere. If you like your music sophisticated\, fun and honest\, you need look no further. \nhttp://www.ashleighcaudill.com/

SUMMARY:Alicia Stockman
DESCRIPTION:2nd place winner at the 2019 Wildflower Arts and Music Festival Al Johnson Performing Songwriter Contest! \nAlicia Stockman is not a chart-topping pop star. She is a singer and songwriter who is passionate about the power of music. She prefers to sing to people\, as opposed to singing at them. \nAlicia does everything in her power to connect with her audience through memories\, experiences\, and passion. In a world where music can be “made” at the push of a button\, Alicia is an advocate of bringing society back to its roots through the experience of pure\, raw music. \nIn 2017\, Stockman was recognized for her craft\, winning the Suzanne Millsaps Performing Singer Songwriter Showcase. It was another step in Stockman’s musical journey – a journey that’s included playing barrooms\, clubs\, and house concerts. \nThe aspiring young musician joined a rock band in 2010 and went from being shy and reserved behind the microphone\, to turning quiet barrooms into rocking dance parties. Her experience in the bluesy\, rock-and-roll band only whet her appetite as a musician. It led her to seek out her voice as an artist\, not just as a singer in a cover band. \nAlicia has always been profoundly influenced by the likes of Patty Griffin\, the Indigo Girls\, and Susan Tedeschi – all strong female vocalists and songwriters. She takes inspiration from stories\, places\, and memories to craft songs that draw listeners into an emotional journey. “These are songs about moments – moments that seem fleeting at the time\, but we soon come to see them as a major turning point in our lives – that these small moments represent so much more.” Stockman described. \n2018 has been a busy year for Stockman. She put together a band\, began recording\, and is playing live in venues and festivals across the Intermountain West. Stockman is backed by Peter Kilian on keyboards\, Nick Price on drums\, and Nick Steffens on bass. “These songs take on a different feel and energy with the band\, giving the songs new meaning. But at their core\, they’re the same songs I write in my kitchen and play in living rooms\,” Stockman said. \nhttps://aliciastockman.com/press/

SUMMARY:Andy Adams
DESCRIPTION:Andy Adams is an Oklahoma City based musician who has been performing around the City and State for over ten years. Vocally he possesses a wide spectrum of range and a variety of tone. He uses these aspects to add vivid and dramatic effect to enhance the mood and movement of the stories in his songs’. In combination with his guitar work this takes his narratives into enchanting tone poems. The authentic vocal commitment and scope of the narrative brings the listener out of the mundane and into a new world full of possibility. \nAndy’s guitar techniques incorporate the essential Delta Blues style with a definitive Americana slant into a modern tradition of folkie fusion. The expanse of the rhythm spans the distance between the thunk of a chain gangs chuck and the winds’ long kiss as it whispers in the willows on a sultry summer night. \nMany of his lyrical textures are literate self-contained accounts of everyday people with everyday problems. Each composition complete in soul and story in its own personal universe. Some of his more personal songs are boldly romantic in this time of shallow detachment and project a serious understanding of the love that makes relationships function without stress. \nAndy Adams is an attractive bundle of talent. He can stand with the best vocally\, as well as\, on guitar\, bass\, harmonica.

SUMMARY:Wood Belly Bluegrass Band
DESCRIPTION:Wood Belly blends traditional bluegrass with modern songwriting and whether you’re spinning your partner around or hanging on every word\, the result is the same. You’re left smiling and wanting more. 2018 has been an exciting year as the group released their debut album\, “Solid Ground” and won the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Festival band competition. \nWood Belly was born when Chris Weist (Mandolin) met Craig Patterson (Guitar) and Chris Zink (Dobro) at the Rockygrass Festival in 2015. Within a year\, they had teamed up with Aaron McCloskey (Banjo) and Taylor Shuck (Bass) and the music immediately fell into place. Since then the band has played at an ever-expanding list of great venues including the Mishawaka amphitheater\, the Fox Theater (Boulder)\, and Cervantes (Denver). Their festival resume includes the Telluride Bluegrass Festival\, Rapidgrass\, the Durango Bluegrass Meltdown\, the Keystone Bluegrass and Beer Festival\, The Wyoming State Bluegrass and BBQ festival\, Snowygrass\, Grapes and Grass\, and more.
