MAINSTAYS

Golden Lager brewed with German noble hops and German lager yeast. Light in body and color, crisp and refreshing.
5% ABV | 19 IBU

American red ale dry hopped with Idaho 7 hops imparting a burst of citrus, pine and tropical fruit flavors. Named for Sim Jefferes, a Berthoud pioneer who operated the City Star Barn livery stable and built the Jefferes Auto Company in 1915 (our building today). Sim also had a prescription for medicinal whiskey.
6.5% ABV | 45 IBU

American IPA brewed with a handful of elusive USA hops: Columbus, Simcoe, Amarillo, Mosaic and dry hopped with Citra hops.
6.5% ABV | 79 IBU

Smooth English style brown ale with a subtle roasted aroma and hints of caramel and toffee. 2013 Great American Beer Festival gold (English Brown Ale category). 2013 US Open Beer Championships gold (English Brown Ale category).
5.5% ABV | 17 IBU

American Stout. Dark roasted malt lend this beer a dark color, dark chocolate and coffee flavors with a sweet finish. 2015 Great American Beer Festival® – Bronze, 2015 Colorado State Fair – Silver, 2014 US Open Beer Championship – Gold.

SPECIALTIES

Pineapple IPA – American IPA dry hopped with Citra hops and pineapple puree.

Aces and Eights –  Imperial Red Ale featuring a new hop each year. This beer is big and resinous, lace up your boots and get ready. Aces and Eights were the cards reportedly held by Old West gunfighter Wild Bill Hickok when he was murdered at the poker table. This seasonal ale pays homage to our building’s history: during its 100 years the City Star Barn allegedly changed hands twice during local poker games.

Luckpenny – American Kölsch featuring a different fruit each year.

Strawberry Blonde – Golden ale fermented with fresh pureed strawberries. Refreshing and approachable seasonal with a tasteful hint of strawberry and pink hue.

Dead or Alive – This outlaw of an imperial IPA was brewed with Centennial, Columbus, Warrior and Millenium hops. It was dry hopped with Vic Secret hops from Australia adding clean fruit flavors to the brew. Six hop additions at 90, 60, 45, 30, 15 & 0 minutes, in addition to dry hopping. The malt backbone lends this beer an amber hue and nicely balances the onslaught of hops.

Calamity Jane – City Star ladies collaboration for International Women’s Day.

Raspberry Saison – Belgian saison with rye and aged on pressed raspberries from Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

Chili The Kid – American Pale Ale infused with Sandia Hot chilis lending mild heat and a nice chili aroma and flavor.

Harley’s Honey Wheat – American wheat brewed with wildflower honey, orange peel and coriander. This brew is named after Harley, spokesdog against puppy mills.

Blood Orange Hibiscus Saison – Belgian rye saison infused with blood oranges and hibiscus flowers.

Happy Mango IPA – American IPA fermented with mangoes and dry hopped with Citra hops.

City Star Okoberfest – Festbier Lager brewed with German malt and noble hops. Moderate, elegant malt flavor and light hop character. Golden-copper hue. Easy drinking fall seasonal. Lederhosen optional.

Homegrown IPA – IPA wet hopped with fresh Centennial hops grown in the City Star beer garden.

Country Pumpkin – Harvest ale brewed with pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, nutmeg and natural maple.

Bear Too Brut IPA – A champagne-like beer with delicious hop flavor, low bitterness and an extremely dry finish. Bear Too Brut was brewed with Vic Secret, Amarillo, and Citra hops (whirlpool additions), and then dry hopped with Mosaic hops… a cocktail of tropical hops aroma and flavor to compliment the dry finish.

Raspberry Bandit – Bandit Brown ale fermented on real raspberries from Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The raspberries impart a garnet color and tart flavor to the beer.

Mallomar Cookie Stout – Stout brewed with beechwood smoked malt, marshmallow, graham cracker and chocolate.

Widow Maker – Imperial Oatmeal Stout. Rich, dark fruit flavor.

Pale ale infused with Sandia hot chilis aged 4 months in tequila oak barrels. Chili flavor, mild spice, subtle smokey mezcal flavor.

Sour strong ale aged 20 months in oak barrels. Soured with a blend of lactobacillus and pediococcus bacteria creating a remarkably tart beer with a hint of honey and a lingering trace of the bouquet of spices from the barrels’ prior inhabitant (Hellbilly). As complex as its namesake, Wild Bill finishes at 12.2% abv.

Saison aged 11 months in chardonnay barrels and 2 months with tangerine and soursop. Palomino has a light body and dances with gold color. A zesty fruit profile from the tangerine and soursop are present, while a slight tartness and wild funky flavor balances the beer. The finish is pleasantly sweet and dry.

Sour stout aged 9 months in oak barrels finished with cherries. Soured with lactobacillus and pediococcus bacteria as well as brettanomyces yeast. A blend of Bing, Lambert, Van, and Royal Anne sweet cherries were added to this beer… approximately 50lbs of cherry per barrel. The beer has a velvety smooth mouthfeel. Luscious waves of cocoa roll along the tongue, and the cherry sweetness rounds out the sour flavor profile.

American Strong Ale brewed with wildflower honey and aged in oak rum barrels. A flavor profile that is malt forward with notes of caramel, toffee, raisin, vanilla, and of course honey.

Imperial Stout aged 14-18 months in Kentucky bourbon whiskey oak barrels. Flavors of rich chocolate, toffee, dark dried fruit, oak, vanilla and of course American whiskey. A rich and creamy mouthfeel leaves you lingering for another pour.

Sour barrel-aged brown ale aged in oak Cabernet wine barrels for two years, intentionally soured with a blend of lactobacillus and pediococcus bacteria.

Deadwood is an imperial red ale aged 4 months in Spirit Hound Distillers whiskey oak barrels. Held by candlelight, this beer is deep garnet in color. The Idaho 7 hops in the base beer impart apricot and tropical fruit notes to the aroma, while plum and dried cherry flavors from the whiskey barrels mingle on the tongue. The beer finishes with sweet whiskey notes and a mild lingering heat.
